Therapy with Nat
Welcome, and thank you for stopping by!
I’m Nathalie Tinoco (she/her/ella), a Mexican, bilingual (English and Spanish speaking) gender-fluid therapist specializing in supporting teens and adults through identity exploration, acculturation stress and life transitions with a trauma-informed and culturally humbled approach.
About Me
Hi, I’m Nathalie (she/her/ella)! A therapist and proud, gender-fluid child of Mexican immigrant parents. I specialize in supporting teens and adults through identity exploration, acculturation stress and life transitions with a trauma-informed and culturally humbled lens.
I have a background in providing school-based counseling to historically underserved youth experiencing trauma and interpersonal stress throughout Oakland, CA. Additionally, I have worked in residential settings to provide crisis support and rehabilitation care to adolescents experiencing depression, anxiety, and complex emotional challenges.
My approach is rooted in creating a safe, compassionate space where you can explore your story, reconnect with your internal strengths, and challenge systems of oppression that may impact your well-being. Drawing on principles of decolonizing therapy, I strive to honor the wisdom of your lived experiences while guiding you toward a more meaningful and authentic life. It’s an honor to walk alongside my clients on their journeys of healing and self-discovery, and I look forward to the opportunity to work with you!
My Approach
Drawing from psychodynamic theory, attachment theory, narrative therapy, and mindfulness practices, I work with teens and adults to address a range of emotional and relational concerns. My approach is grounded in compassion and curiosity, tailored to each client’s unique story and goals.
-
Uncover unconscious patterns and gain insight into how past experiences shape present situations.
-
Explore the dynamics of relationships in order to build secure and meaningful connections.
-
Rewrite personal stories and foster empowerment and self-compassion.
-
Cultivate awareness and emotional regulation in order to promote a sense of grounding and balance in daily life.
Areas of Focus
-
Together, we will examine how cultural values, traditions, and experiences shape your sense of self, relationships, and worldview. My goal is to help you embrace the complexities of your identity while fostering self-acceptance and empowerment in the face of societal and cultural challenges.
-
We will explore the emotional impact of migration, separation, and adjustment to new environments, while honoring your unique experiences and strengths. Through a trauma-informed approach, I aim to help you heal, build a sense of safety, and rediscover strengths as you navigate the challenges of immigration and its aftermath.
-
Together, we will navigate questions, challenges, and experiences related to your sense of self, honoring your unique journey with compassion and respect. My goal is to empower you to embrace your authentic self and build confidence in expressing your identity in ways that feel true and fulfilling.
-
Whether you're facing changes in relationships, career / school, or personal identity, we will work together to explore your feelings, uncover strengths, and develop strategies to move forward with confidence. My goal is to help you embrace growth and find balance during times of change.
-
Through a compassionate and attuned approach, we will work to identify unmet needs, rebuild trust, and foster secure connections. My goal is to support you in creating healthier, more fulfilling relationships—both with yourself and others.
-
Together, we will explore patterns of people-pleasing, overextending, or difficulty saying no, and develop skills to communicate boundaries with confidence. My goal is to empower you to create relationships that feel balanced, respectful, and supportive.
-
Together, we will explore the underlying factors contributing to substance use or other behaviors, while setting realistic goals that prioritize your well-being. My aim is to empower you to reduce risks, build strengths, and move toward meaningful change at your own pace.
